Hi , this is great way of sharing the issues -one man`s pain is other man`s Gain they say!!!!!!!!!!!!

we have DC -N7K  is doing the main configurations , such as VRF /VLAN - we have seen issues where at times some VLANs do have multiple mac address , where this is causing the inter DC link for some customers to be an issues , mainly this affect's the uc-apps replications - only way to over come this issue is to shut and open the vlans for the issue customers . we have had TAC case and outcome was there is a scripts in place to avoid the duplicate mac address issue .

what would be nice is to have the ability to alarm these issues on either SMARTS or PCA . is this possible please?

also, how easy is to run elan packet capture on N7K and is there an issue on CPU during production hours?

Thank you ....

Sam

Thank you.

Hi Sam,

Reading your question, looks like you have an EEM script deployed to avoid duplicate mac issue and your ask is whether these sort of issues without any EEM script can be alarmed on either SMARTS or PCA. If my understanding is correct, I guess there is no way to achieve that.

Also to tell you, this forum is particularly on Troubleshooting Hardware issues on Nexus 7000

I would request you to post this question on the below right forum, where lot of subject matter experts can see to your request and suggest you.

ELAM, a very powerful & non-intrusive tool that enables you to look at Cisco ASIC and understand how a packet is forwarded.

Very easy to run, however interpretion of the ELAM data requires hardware-specific architecture and forwarding knowledge.

I am sharing the below CCO links to you to understand the ELAM Steps for M1, F1 & F2 Cards.
