Can auto QOS be used with any type of voip phone? or is it specifically for use with Cisco VOIP phones? We use Siemens phones, would auto QOS potentially cause any issues? We appear to be geting alot of jitter.

It should be ok with most VOIP phones.

Some basic info:

- Cisco AutoQoS VoIP currently identifies H.323,  H.225 (Unicast only), SIP, Skinny and MGCP signaling protocols. The user  can configure access-lists to identify additional signaling protocols.

- Make sure CEF is turned on

- Make sure CDP is turned on for any interface that has autoqos enabled

- In case of low speed FR/ATM and Serial links, Cisco AutoQoS must be enabled on both ends of the connection to function correctly.

- Configure "bandwidth" under any participating interfaces or sub-interfaces. For ATM PVC, configure "vbr-nrt" under the PVC.

Have you activated SNMP traps to a host someplace? AutoQoS will send SNMP traps if problems start happening, and would be a good key indicator for you if you need to adjust the policy it is deploying automatically.

Hope that helps.
