Hello
after upgrading IOS on a 2651XM the router does no longer boot.
After power up or reload it stops in monitor:
Jan 9 10:13:48.244: %SYS-5-RELOAD: Reload requested by vty0 (172.16.31.10). Reload Reason: Reload Command.

rommon 1 >
Set shows the correct boot file:
BOOT=c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin,1;
If I try to boot from monitor it works fine:
rommon 2 > boot flash:c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
program load complete, entry point: 0x80008000, size: 0x174a658
The config also contain the correct boot file:
!
boot-start-marker
boot system flash c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
boot-end-marker
!
The file is on the flash:
RO-3OG-EDV-1#show flash
System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
...
17 707 ata001818030625
18 24422352 c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
19 497 DistinctiveRingList.xml
....
I don't have any more ideas.
thanks,
Thomas

I agree with amit.
I was going to post this earlier.

The original post contains several error messages including this:
boot: cannot load "c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin"
If the problem were an incorrect config register value that was booting into rommon there would not be an error message like this.

Can you try:
boot system flash flash:c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
01-09-2007 11:55 PM
the effect is the same:
RO-3OG-EDV-1(config)#boot system flash flash:c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
results in:
boot-start-marker
boot system flash c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
boot-end-marker

Thomas
It seems trivial but I would suggest changing the configuration and put a colon between flash and the file name. So
boot system flash c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
becomes
boot system flash:c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
Give it a try and let us know if it helps.

Hi Rick
I tried this:
RO-3OG-EDV-1(config)#boot system flash:c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
but the config is the same than before:
boot-start-marker
boot system flash c2600-ipvoice-mz.124-9.T1.bin
boot-end-marker

Thomas, I think there is some problem with the IOS.May be this IOS is corrupt. I faced the same problem on my 1700 router today and I had to put in a new image on the router. Try tftp a file to the router using if "tftpdnld" option is available in rommon. If not then you have to use "XMODEM" to transfer a new file.

The image is ok, the router works fine - I can boot it with this image from rom monitor and than it boots and works like expected.

Thomas, what is the config-register setting on your router.Make sure that its is 0x2102.Check it in the rommon and chnage it if its not the same.

Why is it trying to load this file before loading the ios image? This looks like a ccme support file.
Here is what I would do:
- erase flash
- copy ios image to flash
- copy ccme support files to flash. These change for each version of ccme.
- reload
