Breaking Catalyst 9300 stack ring while the switches are powered on

Hi,

I want to add a new stack member to an existing stack of C9300 switches.

I've searched the web and I could find information about if it is safe to unscrew the STACK-T1-1M cables while all the switches are powered on in order to break the ring and make room for the new stack member.

Thanks

Hi,

I recommend making changes like this only during a maintenance window, as you never know what can go wrong.

In addition to what @Reza Sharifi has to say:

Depends on the stack ring.  I have seen deployment of "half" stack ring (no return stack cable) because they could/would not buy the return cable.
