bulk copying files from 3850 - backing up NVRAM

Hey all,

I have started having NVRAM issues with one of my new 3850 switches and the resolution recommended is to backup the flash, format the flash and then reload the switch. The stack would then recopy all the necessary files down and hopefully fix the issue. I am looking for a easy way to copy all the files to my USB drive and get all the files and directories without having to do them one by one. There are not that many and the pak files will be easy but there are a couple directories that are there as well.

Do you have anything special in flash?  Normally you only have the vlan.dat, config file, and the IOS itself - and the directory contents would be reloaded when the IOS is reinstalled.

Since this is the third switch in the stack I can know of nothing that is special. I did not know if there might have been some file that I would be missing in regards to the tracebacks we are seeing so was just trying to follow the tech's steps.

Action Plan:

  1. Take a maintenance window and backup the flash of the switch 3.
  2. On switch 3, format the memory “format flash:” and push the back up.
  3. If the error messages continue to exist kindly perform the reboot.
  4. If the error message continue to exist, we have to proceed with the device replacement.
