Buying Recomendation For Switch

Dear community,

Kindly ask, what is the most suitable switch for these requirements :

Core Switches
A. Features:
- Support the needs of leaf bones (SDN ready)
- Supports microsegmentation, for the purposes of microservices (kubernetes)
- Support integration with virtualization platforms
- Supports HCI protocols (stacking, link aggregation, LACP, BGP)
- Supports multi-chassis aggregation
- Supports 1GE, 10GE, 40GE and 100GE interfaces
- High performance, non-blocking switching architecture
- Manageable Layer-3 Switch
B. Technical:
- Minimum port requirements:
- 24 40GB ports with 8 units of 40GB MPO QSFP+
- 24 10GB ports with 24 units of 10GB SFP+
- 24 1GB ports with 24 units of 1GB SFP BaseT
- Minimum switching capacity: 40 Tbps
- Minimum forwarding capability: 11,000 Mpps
- Redundant Power Supply and Fan System
- Minimum 4 service/module slots
- Has a port management console

2. Top of Rack (ToR) Switch
A. Features:
- Support the needs of leaf bones (SDN ready)
- Supports microsegmentation, for the purposes of microservices (kubernetes)
- Support integration with virtualization platforms
- Supports HCI protocols (stacking, link aggregation, LACP, BGP)
- Supports multi-chassis aggregation
- Supports 1GE, 10GE, 40GE and 100GE interfaces
- High performance, non-blocking switching architecture
- Manageable Layer-3 Switch

- Line Rate: that all ports can simultaneously achieve uninterrupted throughput.
- Low Latency: minimizes latency between ports, measured in microseconds or nanoseconds.
- Large per-port buffer: handle speed mismatch of uplink without dropping packets/frames.
- Nonblocking, with low or no oversubscription: reduces the chance of packet/frame drops in peak traffic periods.
- Link 10 Gbps or faster: for Nutanix CVM traffic.
B. Technical
- Minimum port requirements (from each ToR Switch):
- 48 10GB ports with 20 units of 10G SFP+
- 6 ports 40GB/100GB with 4 units of 40GB QSFP+
- Includes the required license
- Minimum switching capacity: 1.4 Tbps
- Minimum forwarding capability: 900 Mpps
- Redundant Power Supply and Fan System
- Has an out-of-band management port

3. Distribution Switches
A. Features:
- Supports VLAN tagging (Trunk and Access)
- Supports 512 VLAN and 4094 VLAN ID
-Support STP, RSTP, MSTP, SEP, ERPS and BPDU Guard
- Support Static route, RIP, OSPF.
-Support Stacking, link aggregation
- Support sFlow
- Supports 1GE and 10GE interfaces
- Support 802.1x port authentication
- Supports CoA Radius Protocol
B. Technical requirement:
- Minimum port requirements:
- 48 ports 1GB BaseT
- 4 ports 10GB BaseX
- Minimum switching capacity: 170 Gbps
- Minimum forwarding capability: 130 Mpps
- Has a port management console

Thank you everyone

its all depends on requirement and cost :

Core Switches  ( Cat 9500 is good here, if you looking modular Cat 9600)

Distribution Switches  - this is against depends on the requirement _ cat 9300 good candidate.  - If you looking Modular you can use Cat 9400 (if you not looking can you also use Cat 9500 here)

Top of Rack (ToR) Switch : -  ( TOR more of DC based - most of them now use nexus 9K or FEX) -  if this is Middle Layer you can use Cat 9200 / Cat 9300 for Layer 2  (i take this as access switches)

Since the requirement is big, suggest to add Cisco partnet and SE to get value of the solution.

Dear @balaji.bandi ,

thank you for your kind response and answer

but what the main point that I got from the list those Switches Core and ToR are able to support SDN (Cisco ACI) so is it nexus?

what series that can achieve switching capacity 40Tbps for the core switch that is why I dont know yet

any suggestions are appreciated

Thank you

These are 2 requirements, Enterprise Lan vs DC Switching ?

SD-Access for enterprise Lan ( Cat 9K support all models - high level)

Neuxs 9K support ACI  - meant to use in DC area.

I would advise to look at the specification : (Cat 9500 / Cat 9600 per slot).

Look at  Nexus 9K - looking for 40TB.
