C9200 upgrade from Essentials to Advanced

Hi,

is it possible to upgrade C9200 switch base license from Network Essentials to Network Advantage? Or is the license

permanently tied to each SKU without the posibility of an upgrade?

If the upgrade is possible, does it apply for both C9200 and C9200L?

(C9300 can be upgraded via C9300-lic SKU, i am looking for a similar option for Catalyst 9200)

Thanks,

Pavel

HI,

for configuring the network license please go on the below link.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9200/software/release/16-9/configuration_guide/sys_mgmt/b_169_sys_mgmt_9200_cg/cisco_smart_licensing_client.html#id_72485

Configuring the License Level

  2. configure terminal
  3. license boot level license_level
  4. exit
  5. write memory
  6. show version
  7. reload

HI, yes it is possible. You have to add this SKU C9200-LIC=

In the next step under the edit options (CCW) you have the option to select the switch having the DNA C Essential with 24-Port or 48-to Advantage.

C9200-24-E-A

24-port NW & DNA Essentials to NW & DNA Advantage Upgrade More

C9200-48-E-A

48-port NW & DNA Essentials to NW & DNA Advantage Upgrade More

Hi all,

It is clear that you need to purchase C9200-LIC= to upgrade from DNA Essentials to DNA Advantage and from Network Essentials to Network Advantage.

Say that the customer is purchasing the 3yr term and after that they no longer want the DNA Advantage, what will happen to Network Advantage? Will it remain or it will fallback to Network Essentials?

Hi,
Network license is permanent, DNA license is term-based.
If the customers won’t extend the subscription of DNA Advantage license after the first 3 years, the box will still retain the permanent Network Advantage license.

Correct.  It is all spelled out in the Cisco DNA licensing table of the data sheet.  You would lose advanced telemetry (NetFlow, EEM, NBAR), DNAC features, and ISE/Stealthwatch licenses.
