C9300-48UN-E PORTS DOWN

PK99
Level 1
Level 1

We just got a C9300-48UN-E for our lab.  Not familiar with 9300s.

There is C9300-NM-8X module but on show ip int brief the NM slot is displaying all of these ports

GigabitEthernet1/1/1 unassigned YES unset down down
GigabitEthernet1/1/2 unassigned YES unset down down
GigabitEthernet1/1/3 unassigned YES unset down down
GigabitEthernet1/1/4 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/1 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/2 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/3 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/4 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/5 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/6 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/7 unassigned YES unset down down
Te1/1/8 unassigned YES unset down down
Fo1/1/1 unassigned YES unset down down
Fo1/1/2 unassigned YES unset down down
TwentyFiveGigE1/1/1 unassigned YES unset down down
TwentyFiveGigE1/1/2 unassigned YES unset down down

Couple of issues we are having -

issuing a no shut command on any port still shows down for example port 47, it is plugged to another switch (the other switch lights up but the C9300 port does not light up and shows the following:

Switch#sh interfaces fiveGigabitEthernet 1/0/47
FiveGigabitEthernet1/0/47 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
Hardware is Five Gigabit Ethernet, address is 6887.c65f.c6af (bia 6887.c65f.c6af)

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
Switch#

Issuing no shut to te1/1/1 is also doing the same thing, the port does not light up.  This same NM module works on a different C9300 switch.

The current switch in question is running IOS - IOS XE Software, Version 17.03.04

Any help is appreciated

Bit confused here, you showing interface 1/0/47 (not part of the module)

1/1/1 is part of the module ? so make sure its connected right port.

what speed other switch connected? (what happened if you match the speed like 1G or 10G on the port config ?)

C9300-NM-8X

This module has eight 10 GE SFP+ module slots.

what is the other switch model it work as expected ?

The 1/0/47 is connected to a Netgear switch.  Both ports are set to 1000 full duplex.  Netgear port lights up, C9300-48UN port does not light up and show interface shows down (not connected).

The C9300-NM-8X is connected via SFP-10G-SR to the a ASR1001-X 10G port and the ASR is showing the following

*Oct 25 15:55:48.331: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/0, changed state to down
*Oct 25 15:55:48.337: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: SIP0/0: Interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/0, changed state to down

The SFP used is part number SFP-10G-SR

The other switch is a C9300-48UXM, the NM module works on that switch, but that switch is running IOS 16.x

The 1/0/47 is connected to a Netgear switch.

i see the port in 5G speed, can you setup a speed 1000 and test it on the port.

Can you post from ASR
