Hi - I am trying to add C9300-NM-8X expansion module to my 9300 and it's not recognized by the switch. And when I remove the module, I'm getting this message in syslog:
%PLATFORM_PM-6-FRULINK_UNKNOWN_REMOVED: Unsupported FRU module removed from slot 1
I have another 9300 switch in the same stack with the 10G module working. The module does work on other 9300 switch, just not this one.
Software version I'm on 16.12.4
Can you advise if this is configuration or hardware issue?

As I understand, you have
2x 9300 in a stack
2x Uplink modules
1 of the uplink modules work on both switches
1 of the uplink modules does not work on either switch
I have seen similar issues on my own, however it resolved itself after updating to newer firmware, and rebooting.
Are you able to try and reboot your switch stack?
If that doesn't solve it, I would initiate a Cisco RMA case on the uplink module.

Actually, it's the second switch that does not recognize the 10G module. When I insert it into the switch, it does not generate any error. The error above is from removing the module from the switch.

is both Cat 9300 running same IOS ?
the one not working, Turn the switch Off (remove the power card).
insert the module, keep tight the screws till the end
Connect the Console cable - Power on the Switch ( post complete output of booting).

This is a known bug.
Workaround is to cold reboot the switch.

Unfortunately unplugging power to both switches for 10 seconds did not help getting the 10G module recognize by the second switch.

Raise an RMA for the C9300-NM-8X.
