I have a Cisco C9500-24Y4C that I setup a few days ago by creating a user and adding some vlans. I unplugged the switch and moved it to a separate desk to do further setup and testing with other devices. When I plugged it in the switch does not allow any access to the terminal, nor does it link any communication between devices. The lights on the front of the switch are as follows: system LED-> amber, blue beacon LED -> off, PSU LED -> green, fan LED -> red, terminal LED -> off. I attempted to factory reset the switch using the reset button on the front however this produced no change. Please help.

Your description of the symptoms suggests that you made configuration changes, did not save running config to startup config, and then powered down and moved the switch. Is that the case?
I am surprised that factory reset did not work. But if it does not work then perhaps trying the password recovery procedure might get you access to the device.
Am I correct in assuming that you are connected to the console port as it boots? If so it might be helpful if you would post the output of the boot process.

Hey Rick,
From what I remember I did save the config changes to the startup config, perhaps I forgot to. Yes, I powered down the switch and moved it to a different location. I am unable to try the password recovery because when I attempt to connect to the console port, I receive no communication from the switch at all. This also means I get no output from the boot process.

It is odd that you are getting no output from the console. Are you using the same computer to access the switch? Are you using the same console cable and connectors? Sure that you are connected to the console port?
If you connect a computer ethernet to a switch access port does the connection become active?

I have been using the same computer as well as cables. I tried connecting to the console via the mini-USB port and the RJ-45 serial port. When connecting a computer via ethernet to an access port no communication occurs.

Hello Benjamin,
1. check for terminal connection, setting, Putty?
2. check for FANS are they completely push in, (LED is red)
3. use the Rj45 console port ( not micro) what CON # sessision is your adapter on your PC, go to device manager> ports> COM#
if you can take screenshots, of your settings or pictures of connections that would give us more details.

Hi Jmartinez,
1. I have been using tera term with the following settings; 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control.
2. The fans are fully seated, I have pulled out and reinstalled them a few times. The fan light on the front as well as the two in the fan modules continue to show a red no matter what I change.
3. I have been using a RJ45 to serial cable with a serial to USB A adapter to connect to the switch. This has worked on other cisco switched without issue.

With the Cisco Windows USB device driver, you can connect and disconnect the USB cable from the console port without affecting Windows HyperTerminal operations.
The console output always goes to both the RJ-45 and the USB console connectors, but the console input is active on only one of the console connectors at any one time. The USB console takes precedence over the RJ-45 console. When a cable is connected into the USB console port, the RJ-45 console port becomes inactive. Conversely, when the USB cable is disconnected from the USB console port, the RJ-45 port becomes active.
You can use the command-line interface (CLI) to configure an inactivity timeout which reactivates the RJ-45 console if the USB console has been activated and no input activity has occurred on the USB console for a specified time.
After the USB console deactivates due to inactivity, you cannot use the CLI to reactivate it. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to reactivate the USB console. For information on using the CLI to configure the USB console interface, see the Software Configuration Guide for Catalyst 9500 Switches.
