Hi,
I am having an odd issue on a couple of new 3750X switches.
I am trying to configure VRF-lite and it is not recoginizing the command.
ip routing (works ok)
ip vrf new_vrf
^
%invalid inpute detected at '^' marker
Does that make any sense? I have googled the syntax ans it should be right..
Thoughts?

You can generate the temp license and try creating the Vrfs

Hello Andrey 3750X catalyst switch does support VRF with IP Services feature set licen se . Please find the datasheet for 3750X. Also, in this email I am sending you a link for 3750X configuration guide and the commands required for VRF. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/data_sheet _c78-584733_ps10744_Products_Data_Sheet.html http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750x_3560x/software/re lease/12.2_55_se/configuration/guide/swiprout.html I hope this information is useful.

Thanks.
We wanted to add a 3750X to our existing 3750G stack. The G ios doesnt run on X so I figured we would create a new stack with the X switches but the X ios does not have ip services that we need.
Plan B: adding another 3750G to the existing stack. Will worry about what to do with the Xs at another time.
Thanks all.

Hello
You actually can have a mixed stack, that's not a problem, but remember that the versions of IOS must be the same, as you said the X version doesn't run on G versions, but the image feature set can be the same even with different hardware. just make sure that if you run ipservice on 3750G you must run universal on 3750X and that's it.

Thanks Wilson but you lost me.
I need IP Services (for VRFs) on the stack.
The 3750G has IPServices.
The 3750X doesnt. (but the image is the universal file)
If I upgrade the IOS on the 3750G I will loose IP Services.. no?

You can have for example:
Existing stack of 3750G
c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.150-2.SE2.bin
add a new 3750x
c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE2.bin
that's called a mixed stack, (because it has 3750g and 3750x stacked together)

Ok.. googled it.. that would be a mixed hardware and software stack according to Cisco docs.
Sorry to be dumb.. but ... so here is my question.
If I add a 3750X to the existing stack will I have to upgrade the ios on the 3750G ?
If I add the 3750X universal with IP Base features will to a stack where the master is a 3750G with IP Servics will I lose features like VRF-Lite (only available with IP Services)?
Even reading other forums posts people seem unclear on this.

Andrew.
The system-level features supported on the master are supported on the entire stack.(Taken from the configuration guide
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/software/release/15.0_2_se/configuration/guide/swstack.html) and experience : )
Now the worst case scenario would be that the 3750G drops down, at that moment vrf will no longer part of your configuration.
Regards.

The 3750G has IPServices.
Exactly WHAT model is your 3750G? I want to know how much flash does your 3750G has. If it has 16 mb then I don't think you can mix-stack (nicely) a 3750G with a 3750X.
