Hello all,
Just checking if anyone experienced a switch reset after one PS failure (configured in default redundant mode). No crash file has been generated. Switch is running IOS 12.2(44)SG and PWR-C45-1400AC. After the switch went online we found that PS1 has gone bad. Haven't found any bug in the tool kit. We have replaced the faulty PS which we will soon test in any other chassis to see if we can reproduce the same problem.
Just wondering if someone has faced same issue of switch reset after one of the PS fails.

Following logs also show that PS went bad after the switch restarted.

Hi Akhtar,
Do you know if the switch went down immediately as PS1 failed or some time after that? Was it running in redundant power mode before the power-cycle?
Maybe the switch managed to send some log messages to the SYSLOG server before going down. Could you check the server for those (if you use one)?
Please attach the outputs of "show power det" and "show power status".
Note that due to the following bug power-on could also means manual reload in 12.2(44)SG:
CSCsl15219: Last reset reason shown after reload is not correct

Hi Ivan,
Switch was configured in redundant power mode, we haven't seen any logs from the switch before the reload; but the switch starting sending logs only after the reload and then declared the PS1 as bad.
Would it possible that the switch faced a power jerk/spike and a safety or protection measure it got reloaded, resulting in PS1 getting faulty.

Hi Akhtar,
It is possible that power source issues could affect and damage the power supplies, it is right. There is a plenty of power availabel for switch to work on single PS. It is difficult to confirm whether power source volatge or something else were out of supported range.
Kind Regards,
Ivan Shirshin

Can you share with us the details of CSCsl15219, since i am not able to view it

Hi Akhtar,
It does not have any other details except for what already mentioned - the reload reason will show incorrect value.
Kind Regards,
Ivan Shirshin
