cat 9600 questions

Hi All

We are in the process of purchasing some cat 9600,

Can you tell me some of the features if any different to the 6500 for example

- If you pull out the active supervisor, will it instantly fail to the standby?

- If you have 2 chassis running stackwise virtual, will the 2nd chassis supervisor be in hot standby?

- If we have 2 supervisors on each chassis, what do they run in, rpr mode?

- What happens if we pull the fan tray out? would the system still run long enough to swap it out?

- As of today, which is the most stable version of software to run on them?

- Can you power down modules or restart modules individually?

Answering your questions in order:

1. Yes, we have NSF/SSO in Catalyst 9600.

2. Yes, one supervisor is Active and one is Hot Standby.

3. We have Quad-Supervisor with RPR on the 9600 with StackWise Virtual.

4. Yes, the system will run long enough to allow you to swap a fan tray. 

5. There should be a gold star version in the software download page for the platform. It is my recommendation to try and stay on an Extended Maintenance Release to allow for ISSU upgrades and software patchability if needed.

6. Yes, there is a command in CLI that allows you to do this.
