I have connected three Catalyst C1300-24T-4X to a stack. All switches run firmware 4.1.7.17 and they are working fine but as soon as I disconnect the switch with stack ID 1 from power the other two switches stop working and freeze.
Any idea or solution for a workaround?

- @daniel_h I would advise that you configure a syslog server on the stack first, when it is working normal.
When the issue happens, then check the last logs which arrived at the syslog server,
M.

Ring and chain stacking options, auto stacking port speed, flexible stacking port options
-> do you have a ring or chain configuration ?
if chain, -> what position in the chain is ID-1
when ID-1 is positioned in the middle of the chain ( 2-1-3), and is powered down then 2 and 3 cannot communicate with each other

I have changed the configuration for "Unit ID" from fixed to auto. Now it looks like a backup switch becomes active as soon as the active one fails.
I use ring configuration
