catalyst 2900 destination MAC change

hello,

I'm facing some problem in my, very specific, network. All the machines are connected to a Catalyst 2900 and they all have the same IPs and MAC addresses. Is there a way to change a destination MAC address on the switch? Or, somehow, forward traffic via a specific swith port basing on some information in data?

regards,

Artur Stepniak

Hello,

Unfortunately, the switch cannot get into the packet and inspect the

contents. So, you need to find a different way to achieve what you are

looking for.

When you say all devices have same IP and same MAC, are you referring to a

load balancing environment? If it is a load balancing environment, you can

manually configure the switch to register the MAC address on all ports and

then switch will forward a copy of the packet to every port. Each server can

decide if it wants to process the data and reply. Here is a document on

Microsoft NLB for Cisco Switches.

Hope this helps.
