Stanley,
If you manually set the clock on a 2950, the value is valid only until the switch restarts.
Please refer the below URL for details:

I would recommend that you look @ NTP.

Let me know if it helps.

have you tried with the NTP?
switch(config)#ntp server x.x.x.x
it should work even though if you restart the switch. what is the IOS version? i faced the same problem in my 3550 switch, later after upgrading the IOS it started working fine, may be you can also try that option(if really you wanted making it working)

Dear all,
I didn't tried NTP services, i only use "clock set" command.
My IOS version is below:
IOS (tm) C2950 Software (C2950-I6Q4L2-M), Version 12.1(22)EA4a, RELEASE SOFTWARE
(fc1)
Pls advise!!!

If you reload the switch the time will always be reset to the default if you used the clock set commnad to set the clock this is normal behavior .

Stanley,
Do u mean to say that the switch didn't update the time after reload when configured with NTP.

Hi
All old switches and routers do not retain the time when reloaded. This is because they do not have any battery to keep the clock running. So after reload it defaults to
generally to the year 1993
To overcome this you have to configure NTP in your network. After a switch is reloaded it will update its clock from the NTP server.
New routers and switches do include a battery in the motherboard and hence retain the time after reload.
HTH, rate if it does

NTP is your only option if you don't want the clock reset after reload .

No other choice?

NTP or upgrade to new switch
NTP seems to be preffered option
