Catalyst 2960-S 48p PoE not booting.

My Catalyst 2960-S won't load after power disruption.

Boots to a very basic menu. "switch:" with only 15 commands to choose from.

Is this switch savable, or should I just order a new one?

TIA!

Copy the IOS BIN file into a flash drive and instruct the switch to boot from it:  boot usb0:filename.bin

Hi,

The switch has gone into ROM mon. if you type "boot" it will try to boot any ios image in flash. If this fails, then the ios image in flash might be corrupt. You can run the "dir flash:" command to view the files in flash. If there is not ios image in flash, then you will need to upload a new image using Xmodem.

Thanks

John

Hi Leo,

I downloaded a copy from the Cisco support site to a USB drive.

When trying to boot from the USB device using the above-mentioned command I am getting the following error.

ERR: !CSWSIGNATURE

ERR: Device NOT ready

How do I correct this?

Hi Leo,

Please disregard my previous reply. I have corrected the USB issue!
