Hello,

recently we bought 2 SG200 to expand our network to Gigabit. We own 1 Catalyst 3650.

We tryed to Etherchannel between the Catalyst and one SG200 but with no luck.

At Catalyst i created the port channel

interface Port-channel1

switchport mode access

and put 4 ports on it

interface GigabitEthernet0/45

switchport mode access

channel-group 1 mode on

!

interface GigabitEthernet0/46

switchport mode access

channel-group 1 mode on

!

interface GigabitEthernet0/47

switchport mode access

channel-group 1 mode on

!

interface GigabitEthernet0/48

switchport mode access

channel-group 1 mode on

when i do show interface port-channel 1 i get that

Port-channel1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

Hardware is EtherChannel, address is 001a.a24d.00ae (bia 001a.a24d.00ae)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 4000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec,

     reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

  Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s, link type is auto, media type is unknown

input flow-control is off, output flow-control is unsupported

  Members in this channel: Gi0/45 Gi0/46 Gi0/47 Gi0/48

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

Last input 00:00:16, output 00:00:00, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0

  Queueing strategy: fifo

  Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)

  5 minute input rate 988000 bits/sec, 166 packets/sec

  5 minute output rate 1943000 bits/sec, 224 packets/sec

3283827412 packets input, 3257328668 bytes, 0 no buffer

     Received 34678609 broadcasts (0 multicast)

     0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

     10 input errors, 10 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

     0 watchdog, 8423441 multicast, 0 pause input

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

     1976995515 packets output, 241528325 bytes, 0 underruns

0 output errors, 0 collisions, 7 interface resets

     0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 PAUSE output

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

I can see that the port-channel is 4Gbit but into the SG200 web interface the Link stays at 1Gbit

I also giving you 2 screenshots from the sg200.
Am i doing something wrong?

Do you have any suggestions?

Is able sg200 to create etherchannel with the Catalyst?

Thanks in Advanced

Alex

Hi Alexander,

Please note that Etherchannel "mode on" will only work between Cisco devices. Therefore, could you try using LACP by configuring "mode active" on the Cisco switch, and enabling LACP (also known as LAG or 802.3ad) on the SG200 device?

Please refer to the following documentations as well.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_configuration_example09186a00800ef797.shtml

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk213/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080094647.shtml

Best regards,

Andras

Mode on should work on servers or cisco switches.   PAGP will only work between cisco switches because it is cisco proprietary.

Did you run a BW test? Maybe it's just a BUG in the webview. As long as the Catalyst see the link to 4Gbps I see no problem.
