Hi All,
I have Catalyst 4900m running at "
cat4500e-entservicesk9-mz.122-54.SG1.bin" image. I setup this 4900m to be wireless network layer 3 router. However, recently the switch start logging
%C4K_EBM-3-CANTALLOCATEVLANHOSTENTRY
based on
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/53SG/system/messages/emsg.html
it stated that the error log indicated lack of memory but as far as I remember the 4900m is not upgrable or I just don't know.

Your IOS is at the top of the version train.
You NEED to raise a TAC case for this.

Hi Jay,
"C4K_EBM-3-CANTALLOCATEVLANHOSTENTRY" errors seen on the device.
This event can be caused by excessive number of mac addresses to learn on this environment or they can be a result of network instability.
Please check if there are topology change or host flapping (show span det | i is exec|from|occur)
Send me the output of "show mac-address-table count" when the error is seeing again.
Can you enable MAC notification to check if there is any loop.
(config)#mac address-table notification mac-move
After that has been enabled please send me the show log.

Thanks for promptly reply. Here are some output. Plesae know regards to Mac flapping. Since I use this as wireless router and yes, user mac will moved from one port to another port when user roaming. So far I don't see hundreds or thousands of hostflapping logs

You have some type of issue , you probably should not be seeing 53000 mac address entries on a single 4900 . Do a show mac address and see if a particular entry or port is show a lot of mac addresses against it and try to identify what that is . You are probably exceeding the mac entry size for the switch itself and you need to identify why ?
