Try changing the config register to 0x2101 , this will load the first image it finds in flash.  You may be missing a boot statement . Register 0x2102 requires a valid boot statement otherwise it will go into rommom.

Try the following:

flash_init

And then post the output to the command "dir flash:".

Hi,

Hourreey !!!

It is impossible to manually set a value to the register. The only way is to use the command confreg.

So, I didn't see the statement " 1 = the first file from internal flash device" but with your help, it works fine now.

Many thanks for your help.

rommon 1 >confreg

For anyone seeing this thread in the future: it's true that you can't manually set the register from rommon, but you don't have to go through the rommon prompts.  If you're in this situation you can just do a "boot" at the rommon prompt to boot the switch, and then set the config-register via "config-register 0x2101" (which I know because I just had to do this on a 4948 today).

Unfortunately i get this solution little bit late i try so many solution and thing with 4948 before i read it ....

Please 4948 is stuck on following now ... whereas it was booting manually from rommon

i did something wrong in the same process now i am getting  the below mention error  when i am selecting the firs file option

rommon 15 >boot= bootflash:cat4500e-entservicesk9-mz.152-2.E7.bin

Error: 'BOOT' can not be set/unset directly.
You can set it only from IOS.
Type 'clear boot' to clear it
rommon 16 >boot bootflash:cat4500e-entservicesk9-mz.152-2.E7.bin
File has bad file magic number: 0x0. Is it a valid file?
boot: can not load "bootflash:cat4500e-entservicesk9-mz.152-2.E7.bin"

Thanks,

I did have a trouble with this switch for a bit and your answer did help!

Thank you for share, It was very helpful, I recovered my Cisco switch following this procedure.

Now, I changed the SW configuration to prevent it from happens again.
