Catalyst 9500 10GbE & 40GbE Surpport

Hi,

I am looking at the Catalyst 9500 Core Network Switch, and need one that can support both 10GbE, and 40GbE optical. I have looked at the data sheet, and this doesn't seem to be provided. However, is it possible to use one of the lanes of 40GbE ports then the switch automatically compensates, or is this not supported.

Thanks,

Jack

Yes, when you use the breakout cable, it supposed to give 4 individual interfaces. So, you can use 1, 2, 3 or all 4.

Hi,

The number of ports need to be between 15-20 minimum. So I want know if the 40GbE port can be programed to use one of the four lanes, and essentially result in 10GbE. Since the 40GbE is made up of 4 10GbE Lanes.

Thanks,

Jack

C9500-32QC supports up to 32 x 40 Gbps ports.

if you are looking combination of 10G and 40 G you will not get that combination.

you get 32 port 40G

Hi,

You can use a 12 port 40Gig (C9500-12Q) with breakout cables.  This switch will give you:

12 40Gig ports

or

6 40Gig  ports and 24 10Gig ports

or

48 10Gig ports.

Hi,

So I can breakout from any 40GbE port, however can the device be reprogramed so it knows that only one of the 4 data lanes is connected.

Thanks,

Jack
