Hi All,
I have a strange issue regarding the catalyst6500, The CPU get overloaded for shot period of time. The culprit process is "PIM" which occupies more than 50% of CPU.
Could you please help me to troubleshoot and figure out the root cause.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Balaji, Hi Leo
Thank you for your interesting, in attachment the details requested.
PS : Juste pour information, the CPU is overloaded when there is a multicast subscription (just for short period) then it get back to normal situation. As an impact, the router lose all OSPF and BGP sessions.
Thank you for your precious help.

Your output shows normal for now,
I would like to see what Sup module you have in this E chassis. Do you have any local multicast service ? or where is this source IP and Destination IP - the connection you mentioned in the last post?

Here is the kinematics, I configured some servers that connect to the router to do the multicast subscription and get the incoming multicast stream. Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with src/dst IP addresses at this time. Otherwise, I would already like to find a way to fix this concern.
Thank you again for your support.

This needs to be investigated further understand your network.

Hi Balaji,
Thank you for your support.
From the mroute table, I can see many multicast routes in "Partial-SC". I found a solution that consist in setuping a rate-limit for the partial-SC packets, could you please advise and confirm if that can resolve the CPU issue ?

As i was mentioned earlier post, we do not have visibility on your setup and output or configuration, we are only guessing the solution may fix, trying is your option and once you try that option if not fixed you need to try another option - which causes the issue.
i would suggest reading below information: and tweak as required, and let us know what was the tweak done in terms of config.
