Hi Sian,

You need at least a Supp II+ supervisor to have IOS which comes from the factory

Example:

WS-X4013+TS Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Supervisor Engine II-Plus-TS, 12 10/100/1000 802.3af PoE, 8 SFPs, console RJ-45 (based on Cisco IOS Software)

IOS is not supported on Catalyst 4006 with Supervisor 2 (WS-X4013) only on Sup2+ (WS-X4013+) and later. Therefore you can not convert the CatOS on C4006 to IOS (with Sup2)

Please see this document which has more detail about this IOS support.

Hi Parminder,

Sorry for the late response. Please see the supported module detail for Cat 4500 switch below,

Yes, you are right, the config from 4006 can't import into 4510 IOS switch. You can apply the config manually according to IOS.

Hi Parminder,

What type of Supervisor do you have on the switch? Could you share show module and show version of the switch.

Note:

The Conversion on the 4000 and 4500 series is hardware based. You need a Sup2+ (ws-X4013+) or higher. The switch has supervisor 1 and it does not support IOS.

Aru

Hi Arumugam,

I have these on 4006 :-

 WS-X 4013 Supervisor Engine

 WS-X 4448 GB RJ-45

 WS-X 4232 L3

 WS-X 4418 GB Switching Module

 WS-X 4306 GB Switching Module

 WS-X 4019 Accelerator Module

So we are planning to buy new 4510, however just want to make sure that CATOS config from 4006 can be easily converted to IOS for 4510.

I appericiate your help on this.

Thanks,

Sian

Hi Aru,

Thanks for detailed answer however i am still confused as I have never woked on these devices. So my question remains that if i need to take the config out of 4006 with the modules I mentioned previously and put it on 4510, what all modules do I need on 4510.

I understand that config from 4006 ( CATOS ) cannot be imported into 4510 (IOS) as they are different os's.

We are planning to replace the 4006 with 4510, not trying to upgrade the 4006, however the config would remain the same.

Thanks,

Sian
