Hi,

got my 881 connected to Verizon via the PCEX-3G-CDMA-v card. I got a dhcp address from Verizon and am pinging Google from inside the router but, my Cellular interface keeps bouncing so, my pings are not too steady.

what is a radio signal?

Not sure what you mean by radio signal but, here is the output.

Thanks, Pat.

so radio signal is very good.

the problem may be when no traffic coming so dialer interface gos down, because no traffic.

I did

ip sla 10

icmp-echo 172.2.2.19 source-interface GigabitEthernet0/0

frequency 10

ip sla schedule 10 life forever start-time now

witch constantly sends icmp paket every 10 seconds so preventing dialer interface go down.

dont forget to rate post if it helps.

Thanks for the response.

I didn't configure a dialer interface.

This is my configuration for the Cell0

!

dialer-list 1 protocol ip list 1

script dialer cdma

interface Cellular0

description ***VerizonWireless***

ip address negotiated

encapsulation ppp

dialer in-band

dialer idle-timeout 2147483 either

dialer string cdma

dialer-group 1

async mode interactive

ppp chap password 7 00071A1507544B

!

and an acl:

dialer-list 1 protocol ip list 1

script dialer cdma

And I also made cell0 the source for tunnel0 and tunnel1.

I was doing a constant ping to Google and I would still drop every 10th ping or so and then it would drop several pings in a row then connect again.

I haven't applied the NAT statements and an access-list that to the Cell0 interface and am thinking I probably should.

Access-list that is not applied yet:

Hello Patrick,

I have a similar issue (however having a different configuration and platform). DId you manage to solve it?

Regards,

kyle

Kyle,

I found that you need a very stable 3G signal to make this option of any use. I had the router in my sun room for a while for testing and it kept dropping. The signal in the sun room is not very good. With my phone I would get 1 or 2 bars. In my Dining room I get a constant 3 or 4 bars and the 881 with the cell interface was pretty stable there. I could make calls and surf at the same time. When I was on the IP phone and had a Youtube video streaming there was a noticable delay with my voice. I think you need atleast a constant 3 bars to be worthwhile. Not very scientific, I know.

Good Luck, Pat.

Hello,

I am experiencing the same issue on my 819-4G router. I am running 15.6. When pinging 8.8.8.8 I get around a 75% success rate. Here is my radio info:

Router#sh cell 0 radio

Current RSSI = -107 dBm
Current ECIO = -7 dBm
SINR = +6 dB

I understand this to be a very good signal. Am I correct?
