Change VSS system ID on 4500-X

Hi,

I currently have a 4500X VSS paired with a system ID of 1 and have a requirement to change this value to another number due to a clash in the environment.

Has anyone gone through the process of changing a VSS system ID? Do I need to wipe all configs and start over? I dont have any spare equipment to test with.

Thanks in advance!

Hi
its standard enough , you should never have 2 back to back same ids in VSS so this issue has occurred few times , you will need to reboot though, see post below

Hey Mark,

Thanks, I did come across that after I posted this thread, hoping its that simple. I'll post an update after I completed.

Regards,

Brian

Hi yes its easy enough change, its just getting the outage window that can be a problem for most as its hard down while it changes and these are usually core network infrastructure, hopefully goes ok for you

Worked like a charm, simple enough change and devices back up and operational again in 8-10 mins.

thats great thanks for letting us know :)
