Hi everyone

Does anybody knows what´s happening with this Router.

It cannot boot the IOS image, I´m getting this error when I turn on the Router or reset it from Rommon:

Initializing ATA monitor library.......

open(): Open Error = -47

loadprog: error - on file open

boot: cannot load "flash:"

I already checked that the image is in the flash:

rommon 1 > dir flash:

program load complete, entry point: 0x8000f000, size: 0xc100

Initializing ATA monitor library.......

Directory of flash:

2      16777216  -rw-     c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25g.bin

I also try to load other image versions, after the tftpdnld command, this error is shown:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!
File reception completed.
Validating checksum.
Copying file c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25g.bin to flash.
program load complete, entry point: 0x8000f000, size: 0xc100

Initializing ATA monitor library.......

Format: Drive communication & 1st Sector Write OK...
Writing Monlib sectors.
..................................................................................................
Monlib write complete

Format: All system sectors written. OK...
Format: Operation completed successfully.

Format of flash: complete
program load complete, entry point: 0x8000f000, size: 0xc100

Initializing ATA monitor library.......
write to a file failed...err code = -46

Thank you for all the information you can provide me

No, this equipment doesn´t have a cisco support contract.

Ok, I hope you can download software because this next bit is your "Plan B".

1.  Boot your router, via TFTPDNLD.

2.  Go here.

3.  Download the ROMmon 12.4(13r)T5.

4.  Get a TFTP server.

5.  Run this command "upgrade rom tftp:///ROMmon filename".

6.  Choose yes.

The router will reboot and now you can get a supported USB to boot the IOS from a USB flash drive.

Hmmmm ... describe your CF that you are using.

This error message can go two ways:

1.  Either the CF slot is faulty; or

2.  You are using a non-supported CF.

NOTE:  I said "non-supported CF" and not "non-Cisco branded CF".  Two different meanings.

Hi Leo Laohoo

Thank you for your reply

I´m using Cisco Branded CF, with this part number CIS00-01186-523CAH

As you suggest, I think is the slot, because this CF is a new one, but the one that it was working on this router has the same part number, it get damage somehow. Maybe the slot get damage too.

Thank you for the info.

Hmmmmmm ...

Do you have warranty to get the router RMA-ed?

If not, there's another way.

Hi Leo

I can´t boot from the TFTPDNLD command

!!!!!!!!!!!!!
File reception completed.
Validating checksum.
Copying file c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25g.bin to flash.
program load complete, entry point: 0x8000f000, size: 0xc100

Initializing ATA monitor library.......

Writing Monlib sectors.

I don´t know why when I send the TFTPDNLD command instead of booting it from the server it is copying into flash. I underline the message it gave me... So I can´t boot right now from the TFTP server, or I´m missing something?

Best Regards

You don't have a flash, so you'll need to use the "-r" option.
