Cisco 3650 wont boot

Hi

I was asked to reset an Cisco 3650, but when i started it up then it wont boot.

Is it possible to just wipe the flash, and then just download a new IOS image, and copy it over with usb to the switch?

Best greetings from Christian Josiassen.

 - You don't need to wipe the flash completely , make sure that there is a bootable image on it : copy  usbflash0:image.bin   flash:

Hi

But it is possible to wipe the flash, and copy an image over?

 - Erasing flash completely is  overkill , you may delete vlan database or core directory amongst other stuff (e.g.)

No, that is incorrect thinking.

Each IOS-XE version operates differently.  Some leave crashlogs in the crashinfo directory, some in the tracelogs, some in the core logs.

The safest way to wipe an IOS-XE is the command "factory-reset all" and then use "emergency-install" to put the firmware back in.

If the switch is in ROMMON, post the complete output to the command "set".
