Hello friends,

I have Cisco 3750 24P switch running in the corner for a while, suddenly I found connection lost to the switch and on console port switch is just booting half way down. Below are last few lines on the console output. Steps I have taken as follows.

1. Original firmware in the switch was c3750-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE2.bin I have installed same firmware using xmodem command on console but no luck switch get stuck at exact same position.

2. Did fsck & formatted the filesystem and reinstalled above image. No luck

3. formatted the file system and installed c3750-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin, still no luck

4. formatted the filesystem & installed c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin still no luck

In all cases switch get stuck at exact same position. I used xmodem command to install new IOS.

Also I have another 3750 48P switch causing the exact same issue. I performed all of the above steps on 48 port switch also and both switches getting stuck at exact same position.

     - Try factory reset on one switch , and check if that can help ,

Thanks.

Though I didn't come across any article that helps me factory reset the switch in rommon prompt as switch is not able complete the boot sequence.

Looks for me hardware fault. if you looking same model look for refurbished and replace it.

if you looking upgrade option look for Cat 9300 models

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi,

I don't deny this possibility. These switches are in service since 2007. We decommissioned them in 2015 but I am still using it at different places.

I inquired about 9300 series switches but sadly cisco are coming with subscription based model. I am not a fan of subscription based model.

any new switches form cisco are subscription model - but if the switch acting just layer2 - then essential is life time.

Were these switches purchased from cisco or a VAR?

The fact you have 2 with the same issue could suggest they were knock off switches if purchased from a 3rd party. They usually work on the code they came with, but on any update they can't upgrade the firmware as the asics don't usually exist and causes them to basically get stuck.

We have purchased these switches from a cisco partner in 2007 & decommissioned in 2015. We also had support from cisco from these switches till 2015. we have like 12 switches in a mix of c3750 & c3560.

I tried replacing the same code. I took backup of IOS images from all switches in 2015 before decommissioning them. After that I tried two more codes but no luck so far.
