Cisco 3850 Switch Stack Problems

Hi All,

I'm trying to get some 3850 switches configured together as a stack.  I have six in all, 4 x 48 ports and 2 x 24 ports.  I've connected the stack cables up in the right order and initially I connected the new Stackpower cables too.  What I didn't realise at the time was that when I switched on the top switch in the stack another switch came to life, owing to the stackpower cables!.  Unfortunately as I didn't stop it in time, this switch booted and elected itself as the Stack Master (or Active as the terminology seems to be now).  I didn't want this switch in particular to be the Active Number 1 switch, I wanted it to be the top one.  So, I proceeded to disconnect all of the Stack Power cables to save on confusion, and began powering up the switches in the order that I wanted them to be in the stack.  Now, when I get to the previous Active number 1 switch, it doesn't seem to be able to see the rest of the stack and still elects itself to be the stack master of one switch.

I tried provisioning the switch in the stack before switching it on, but it still does not discover the rest of the stack when it's running through its stack discovery at boot up.

I've tried wr erase, reload.  Hold the Reset button in on the back and holding the Mode button in on the front for 10 seconds.  Nothing will restart the switch as if it came out of the factory and add itself to the rest of the stack.

Does anyone have any experience of this out there and know of a way of fixing it?

Thanks

Rob
