Hi all,
I've uploaded a wrong IOS to a Cisco 9200L switch and booted from it.
Now switch is unreachable.
I'll going to connect trough console cable in the next days and my idea is that the switch will be in rommon mode and boot it from packages.conf to bring it back to life.
In your opinion, is this the scenario I will find?
Anyone passed trough something similar?
TIA
MG

Do not worry about the packages.conf. Force the switch to boot the BIN file (from ROMMON).

Correct, the switch would be in ROMMON.

That depends on the contents of the packages.conf file. If this file is pointing to the wrong packages, nothing is going to work. However, if the OLD packages.conf file is still around, force the switch to boot that will recover the switch back.

Hi Leo,
Thanks for reply.
In case boot from packages.conf will not work, could be the solution boot from the old IOS. bin?
TIA,
MG

I would recommend bringing a USB flash drive with the correct firmware file in it because this is guaranteed to recover the switch in any scenario.
Force the switch to boot the firmware from the USB flash drive. Clean up the flash and then initiate Install Mode.

Thanks again for the answer.. Just last doubts ... If packages.conf doesn't works and I need to use an USB flash, the IOS in the USB must be as the same as the previous in the switch or could be any compatible? Booting from USB or from packages.conf will maintain the old switch conf?
TIA,
MG

The firmware file(s) in the USB flash drive must be compatible with the 9200/9200L and it can be any version. It can be the the previous version or it can be the new version.

And what about the conf? Do will be the same?
