Cisco AP Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities

Hi All,

I have a few questions below about BLE capabilities of A.

Hope you guys can help me on this. Thank you.

  1. What model of an Access point and Wireless LAN Controller can support this BLE?
  2. What will be the impact if we activate this feature? Is this a Global configuration or can we activate it on a certain access point?
  3. Currently, we disabled the 2.4Ghz on our campuses, is this will affect the BLE?

We are planning to use this option for our geo fencing but need to know what will be the impact and recommendation.

Best regards,

Sarah

1. The following AP models support BLE: 1850, 4800, 1540 Catalyst 9115ax, 9117ax and 9120ax.
2. The BLE CANNOT be enabled without Web CMX (different to "plain" CMX) or DNA Places.
IMPORTANT: Talk to your Cisco AM/SE/PSS if you want BLE support.
3. 2.4 Ghz and BLE run on different frequencies.

Hi Leo,
I have additional question about my number 2 inquiry yesterday.

"The BLE CANNOT be enabled without Web CMX (different to "plain" CMX) or DNA Places" - I need to know the impact, advantages and disadvantages if we enable this. I understand that CMX is one of the requirements for BLE. However, I need to activate it from WLC, is this configuration in global?

And if you have any recommendations please let me know.

Thank you,

Sarah

You can enable BLE on the WLC but the BLE on the AP will be "down" because CMX Web or DNA Places isn't enabled.

Hi to all,

I would like to use BLE with my two 9120AXE EWC AP.

How can i enable CMX Web or DNA place please?

What is the difference between these two features?

Is it free?

Best Regards.

Contact your Cisco AM/SE/PSS to get access for DNA Spaces.
