Cisco Catalyst 1000 - Access port flapping

Hello all,

I am having an issue whith a brand new Catalyt 1000, I have two APs and one PC connected to the switch, all ports are configured as access ports without VLANs now, I even completely reseted the switch without any particular configuration, and I have the PC NIC interface going up and down without reason, all the devices work only this particular PC.

I have changed the cable, changed the port, and checked for any speed/duplex mismatches, but everything is ok. To discard a PC NIC failure when I connect the PC to an AP which is connected to the switch it works. I think it could be a NIC - Switch incompatibility or a missing setting for the NIC on Windows. The drivers are fully up to date as well.

Does someone have an idea?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

I found my issue, problem solved, I deactivated the Energy Efficient Ethernet setting on my NIC and now it never went down again. I leave a screen shot in the end. Thanks all for the help.

Go to the PC and ping, say, 1.1.1.1.

Is the pinging continuous or does it stop?

Hi,

Fro the PC it stops, the interfaces of pc and switch go down, I haven't other means to reach the switch, I analyzed with my laptop connected to the switch everything is working only that damm PC goes down.

Connect the console to the switch, post the logs, and show interface gix/x

try to setup the manual speed to 100 and see if that works.

or get another PC or USB Ethernet and test it.

can we see the config of port ?

Post the complete output to the command "sh interface PC_PORT".

Hi,

I will post it later when on the switch, but the only config I did was to set switchport mode access, if I take another pc, or if I connect this PC to an access point connected to the port of the seitch it works, no problems at all.

But as I want to use later VLANs I need this PC connected to the switch.

if the other PC works as expected when you connect to wifi.

wireless has a different adaptor and wired nic has a different adaptor.

so if you take another PC connected to the same switch port using Ethernet is this works? if that works ?

so we know the answer right?

When I mean connect to an AP is an AP which has ethernet ports, it works connected via cable to the ap, ap which is connected to the switch. I think is some settings on the NIC or kind of incompatibility between NIC and Switch but it's frustrating I paid a price for the switch and will probably not be able to use it.

One thing you need to understand here is...When you connected AP to the switch port - it come up - which shows we do not see any issue with the Switch here.

The only issue you keep posting here PC  and we suspect NIC (which may be faulty ethernet - no one knows except you - to check)

We do not have proof that this NIC working.

Check what Interface card you have in the PC -

Tell us how are you using the Internet. Do you have any other device ? or you only have 1 PC to test ?

Sure this was expected as per your description, client NIC has something to do, but since we don't have any visibility we hard to guess what is configured there - until you show us more visibility

anyway glad you were able to resolve the issue.
