Cisco Catalyst 2960 X does not permit traffic

rolandoravelo

I have a Cisco Catalyst 2960-X 48 ports, connected to a 6 Cisco Stack by Ethernet Port.

(This switch was part of the Stack, ad retired from it due a bad stack module)

The stack have the IP 172.16.0.10

The "problematic" switch have the IP 172.16.0.12

It's accessible from the LAN and can be managed via SSH.

No one device connected to any Ethernet port can reach the LAN.

I had reset the switch, after that, copied running-config from one of the stack members. Still the issue.

Also I realize the System Led is steady Amber.

Appreciate any idea.

Thank's

No traffic on all interfaces right?

This happened after a software update right?

You may have a counterfeit switch that was broken during the update procedure.

Check for this during the boot:

POST: ACT2 Authentication : Begin

POST: ACT2 Authentication : End, Status Failed

If it's failed it's probably counterfeit and you may have something like "

%ILET-1-AUTHENTICATION_FAIL: This Switch may not have been manufactured by Cisco or with Cisco's authorization" on "sh logging".

Hi

If you can access the switch over ssh, can you share the following outputs and put them into a text file please:
- sh ip int brie
- sh vlan
- sh run

Thanks
Francesco

Attached the 3 ouputs.

The switch is the AHE-SW-MASTER-6

Interface GigabitEthernet6/0/5 is connected to a Cisco Stack

On the GigabitEthernet6/0/15 there are an Avaya IP phone.

Is your avaya phone working on vlan 1?
This is the only vlan you have. If avaya are in another vlan then you should create it on this switch and make the interface 6/0/5 as a trunk with your upstream stack.

I would recommend to wr erase the switch and start with a fesh config just to have a cleaner config and not using interfaces named 6/0/x for a standalone switch.

Thanks
Francesco

This switch was part of an stack.

Since FlexStack module failed, we retired it from the stack.

Now is STANDALONE.

Somebody performed a factory default reset on it, after that, I putted the running config from other switch.

I've tried in so many ways, but no traffic pass through.

Thank's

if this is a standalone switch.

you need to make it as default the switch - Write erase the config

do basic config example :

1. where this switch connecting to Uplink - port config

2. if all should be VLAN 1 you not required to config anything all belong to by default VLAN 1

3. do your basic VLAN interface config for the management.

4. what VLAN your Phone / Data port should be VLAN 1 ? or any other VLAN which was working. ( or can you provide other switch was working the environment. - to look and suggest you.).

Thank you!  This is exactly what was happening. After contact to Cisco and provide them the serial number, they informed that I have a counterfeit device. Bad game of my vendor, putted on black list

I would first verify that the trunk is forming between the two switches. Then I would move to the IP phone and make sure that it is getting an IP address.
