Hi All,
I'm looking to purchase a new collapsed core switch for one of our sites and I'm looking at either the Catalyst 4500X in VSS or 9500 in Stackwise virtual. I know that the 4500X has been out quite a while and I'm not sure if it will be announced EoL soon. Is anyone aware of this? Would it make sense to look at the 9K for future deployments?
Thanks

if i were you i would go to Cat 9500, it has long life, since cisco strongly moving that side.

Hi,
Since this is a new deployment, I would say go for the 9500. I know that the 4500x series switches are pretty solid. VSS is also very solid on the 4500 series.
I am sure 4500x is also less pricey.
If you decided to go with the 9500, make sure to know all the limitations.

“VSS” and “solid” do not belong in the same sentence.
Stackwise-Virtual had its trials and tribulations when it debuted, but is quite dependable these days.

Hi,
we have replaced c4500 last year with c6800, Now we are planning to replace remaining c4500 with c9500 as c9500 rich of features and long life.
if you have further question regarding c9500 please don't hesitate to ask me. Thanks

Go with 9500.
