Cisco Catalyst 9200 Ports stop working suddenly and requires Reset

Beginner

Hello All,

I faced some issues with c9200 series switches where the users remained connected via LAN directly to the switch and all of a sudden the connected port stopped working with no LED status. When I did the admin shut and no shut that particular port, the port started working and they had to re-plug the cable post resetting the port. We don't have any security configured in the switch and also no BPDU guard enabled on the port level. Here is the config that I've used:

!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
description ** Kept for End-Devices **
switchport mode access
spanning-tree portfast
!

Kindly suggest what could be the issue behind this problem because more and more users are facing such problems not very frequently but sometimes this creates huge pain in the head***

Hi

 Smell like bug to me.

When the problem happen, before you do anything, can you check to see if the affected client does have entry on the mac addres table?

Hi Miranda,

The problem first appeared a couple of days back and to resolve the issue since the users were impacted in the production Env. I tried resetting the ports which worked.

I can check for the Mac entry once the problem will appear again.

However, if this will be a bug, then what could be the possible fix for this?

what is the IOS XE code running, check any new version you can uplift see if that fix the issue ?

if this effecting Live environment - then raise an TAC case to investigate.

The device is running on the latest software image.

Will check with the TAC support.

Thanks

What exact version?

S/w version is 16.12.4

Raise a TAC Case and get them to verify if this is CSCvz54607.

NOTE:  When raising TAC Cases, make sure to re-route/re-queue to ME/Euro or RTP desk.

 - Check the logs , preferably use a syslog server as a log-collector, gives better logging management and review opportunities too.

Post the complete output to the command "sh interface Gi1/0/1 controller".

NOTE:  Do not post screenshots.

The next time this happens, post the complete output to the command "sh interface status error".

Hi,

A similar problem just appeared but seems it is on another switch and for the first time.

However, here are the outputs of the command as requested:
