Hi All,

Having some query regarding Cisco catalyst switch, it will be very greatful to me of any one help.

1) having an Cisco WS-3850-24T switch running firmware version 03.06.06E and I need to load an image 16.09.03a and boot a switch with new image.

What I basically want to know is it applicable to jump from 03.06.06E to 16.09.03a or is it any upgrade path for it.

Here's the recommended IOS code version to run-

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-9300-series-switches/214814-recommended-releases-for-catalyst-9200-9.html

The upgrade instructions are here-

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3850/software/release/16-9/release_notes/ol-16-9-3850.html#id_77758

You can upgrade from 3.6 train into the 16 train, however I have had issues doing that. It usually revolves around the older 3850's. They seem to like short train upgrades. Follow the directions and see how it goes. If you run into problems, try upgrading to the latest 3.6 train and then 3.7 early followed by 3.7 late, then upgrade to 16.

Hi Collin,

Thank you for your help. I will try it in maintenance window and update if everything goes smooth.

Direct upgrade to 16.9.X is fine.
Make sure you read the Release Notes.
NOTE: Go with 16.9.4 instead.

Legend status Leo?? :-) I have to come out here and troll more often. Hope you're doing well.

LOL.
Where have you been, Collin? You missed out to all the fun.
