Cisco Serial Number Lookups

Is there a way to look up a serial number or assembly number and have it can tell me the date that it was manufactured or even maybe even purchased? I am trying to do with with 3750gs, 4506, 3550, and some line cards. Any help would be greated appreciated!!

   Getting the serial numbers is easy enough but you would probably have to go to cisco and give them the serial numbers to see when they were manufactured.

Try this ...

1.  Go to the Service Contract Centre:  http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/437/scc/index.html
2.  Click "Launch Tool"
3.  A window should hopefully pop up.  In the search bar, choose "Serial Number" and you enter you-know-what in the box next to it.
4.  Here's the funny bit ... If you have a result, then good.  If you don't you'll have a hyperlink to "log a support case".  I recommend this is your next step.  It takes Cisco a maximum of 4 hours to respond to your initial queries.

There's a fairly easy way to derive the manufacture date if you happen to know the serial number. 

The serial number will be in the format: ‘LLLYYWWSSSS’; where ‘YY’ is the year of manufacture and ‘WW’ is the week of manufacture.  The date code can be found in the 4 middle digits of the serial number.  In the case of serial number SAD08300D4W, ‘08’ is the year code and ‘30’ is the week code. You can then decode the date use the following:

                01 = 1997                              06 = 2002                              11 = 2007                              16 = 2012

                02 = 1998                              07 = 2003                              12 = 2008                              17 = 2013

                03 = 1999                              08 = 2004                              13 = 2009                              18 = 2014

                04 = 2000                              09 = 2005                              14 = 2010                              19 = 2015

                05 = 2001                              10 = 2006                              15 = 2011                              20 = 2016

And here are the Manufacturing Week Codes:

                1-5 : January                  15-18 : April                        28-31 : July                          41-44 : October

                6-9 : February                19-22 : May                         32-35 : August                   45-48 : November

                10-14 : March                 23-27 : June                        36-40 : September           49-52 : December

I have the same problem and I want to figure out  my mounted modules are RF or not. 

let me explain more. our company purchased a 6500 chassis with mounted modules such as supervisor. the problem is I do not know the supervisor module is RF or not. how can i determine?

Thanks so much for your answer to the question.  It worked great!  I was having some problems with devices failing and they were all from the same month/year.  I was able to SSH into the other devices that I have and find the ones that might possibly have issues.
