Hello,

I have just got 2 of these switches, plugged the gigastack modules in to each switch and then plugged in the gigastack cable between the switches in point-to-point mode.

Do I have todo anything else with the switches to configure in a stack or is that it?

How do I know which is the master and slave?

Yes, each switch will have it's own IP.

Ian

There is no master/slave relationship in these old switches iirc. Gigastack in these switches is just cheaper than using gbic interfaces and fibre, and allows you to create a completely redundant design using only one of the two ports. Its not really a stack like in the 3750's which you might have seen a lot about on this forum.

Bear in mind though that they function a half dupex in a completely redundant design.

I took them all out of our network and put gbics and fibre in to get full duplex conectivity.

Ian

Thank you for your help.

Regards to setting the switches up, do I just configure them with seperate IP Addresses, as I know in stacks you have IP Address for stacks.

Yes, each switch will have it's own IP.

Ian
