Do the power supplies in Cisco switches have any built-in self protection? I've been unable to find any references on the web.
The reason that I ask the question is that we have had several cases of switches losing power - sometimes but not always after a known power cut - but pulling and re-inserting the power cord brings the switch back to life so something appears to have caused the power supply to stop supplying power to the system.
I have seen this now on 3750G, 2960S and 3550.
If there are any protection policies then this may indicate problems with the power supply on this particular site; we have not noted it anywhere else.
The cabinets do not have UPS protection (that is a separate discussion...).
