configuration under interfaces lost after reboot ( stackwise virtual C9407 pair )

Hi,

Any clue why all configuration under the interfaces e.g portchannel etc.. lost after i truned both the switches ON ( active switch switchover ) after some days. I turned them off before going to vacations (they are not in production yet ). Have done many reloads and tested active/standby switchovers previously without any issue.

Hi, There was no error. Just remember when switch will boot to form stackwise virtual pair their interface numbering would change which removes config entered with on old interface names. SVL config remains intact.
So make SVL pair first and then enter interface configs. Do not change configs on SVL links or DaD link afterwards.

Hi

We were experiencing an issue where the startup config was erased on both switches in a virtual stack on power on from cold. This only happened at random and eventually TAC identified a bug:

https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvt13067

We have tested and this has resolved the issue.

Is this all interfaces lose config or just the portchannel interfaces?

Almost all except some GE interfaces on SW2 , SVL & DaD interface.

Hello,

can you post the output of:

We have the same issue. We have had two different pairs of 9407 exhibit the same behaviour. We have established that it is something to do with StackWise as the problem does not occur in non-stacked configurations. We had raised a case with TAC when we first saw it but they were unable to recreate the problem. We got the second pair of switches in last week and saw the problem straight away. Are waiting to progress with TAC so I will post what they say.

Hi, I tested a bit and i think issue comes when the SVL links configuration is changed (add or remove links).

Hi, i had the same problem on my stackwise pair too. Appreciate you can share what is the resolution from Cisco. I have saved the config file prior to power cycle the switch. Confirm both running & startup config are the same. However, after power cycle sw2 lost config on interfaces.

Hi, There was no error. Just remember when switch will boot to form stackwise virtual pair their interface numbering would change which removes config entered with on old interface names. SVL config remains intact.
So make SVL pair first and then enter interface configs. Do not change configs on SVL links or DaD link afterwards.

Hello Guys!

Did you manage to solve this problem with a Cisco?

I am in the deployment of a pair of C9407 configured in SVL but intermittently when restarting one of the boxes occurs to remove some interfaces from the Port-channel gave one of the switches of the SVL that connects with the access switches.
