Configure ESX1 and Hyper-V to Nexus 2K Help

Hi,

This is my first time rolling out a next platform. We have two 7ks that vPC to two downstream 5Ks and each 5K has about 10 x 2K’s off each 5K as TOR for VMware and Hyper-V servers.

If I setup a single sever as an access port I have no issues. We’re trying to LACP to both the Hyper-V servers and the VMWare servers. Each time I configure a port-channel between the VMware and the 2K each interface just shows an “I” independent in the PC and not aggregated. I’ve had our Server guys verify the aggregation on their end and also the Hash (Route Based). Each link to the Server is a trunk and we’re tagging the native vlan.

I've tried to use both LACP (Mode active) and manual bundling (Mode on) to accomplish this, neither seems to work too well. I’ve even set it to “force mode active”. I have also NOT configured the vPC command on the PC toward the servers. I’m just looking for the right way to configure these. I’ve attached pic of the environment and a config sample. Any help is appreciated.

Example config:

This config is the same on each FEX - and each FEX (fex 105 and 115) connect in a vPC to two separate Nexus 5K's.

interface port-channel1002
  description sqlvirtual02
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 30
  spanning-tree port type edge trunk
  speed 1000
  duplex full

interface Ethernet105/1/1
  description sqlvirtual02
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 30
  speed 1000
  duplex full
  channel-group 1002 mode active

interface Ethernet105/1/2
  description sqlvirtual02
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 30
  speed 1000
  duplex full
  channel-group 1002 mode active

interface Ethernet115/1/1
  description sqlvirtual02
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 30
  speed 1000
  duplex full
  channel-group 1002 mode active

interface Ethernet115/1/2
  description sqlvirtual02
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 30
  speed 1000
  duplex full
  channel-group 1002 mode active

Thank you,

Mike

Hi,

Since the servers are connected to 2 FEXs, try creating a VPC on the Portchannle and test again.
