Configuring SPAN port on 2980 Cat OS switch

Hi,

I need to monitor traffic on a Voice deditacted Vlan my network. I have set up a port on a 2980 switch with the following command:

set span 11(vlan) 2/28 and have connected a desktop to this port and am running ethereal on it but i am not getting any traffic for this vlan. We are having trouble with voice call on this vlan so i think something is causing excess traffic to occur.

Any idea what i'm doing wrong here not to be seeing any traffic? when there definatley is traffic on it?

Can you post the show span output ?

Also, take a look at the documentation

and see if any steps were missed.
