connecting Nexus 93180 and catalyst 6509-E

Hello,

I wanted some suggestions on what could be the preferred way to connect a pair of 93180YC-EX to a pair of 6509-E(VSS)

Can I have VPC between the 2 93180, and connect it through QSFP breakout cable, with each breakout pair (4 connections) going to each 6509-E in the VSS. Connections as shown below. The intention is to have redundancy for end devices connected to 93180. Any inputs are appreciated.

Thanks.

My suggestion is VPC configuration not required between the 2 93180 Switches. As these 2 Switches already connected to the Core Switch. Even if any 93180 Switch fails still you have the connection from 6509.

Now it depends on your servers connectivity, you have to connect 1 cable to Nexus Switch A and another Switch B so you will get redundancy.

Hi @pranav_motiwala

Yes, configuring the 2x N9K in a vpc domain and using a vpc port-channel between 2x N9K and C6509 VSS is a good solution.

And yes, vPC on breakout ports is supported.

Stay safe,

Sergiu
