Hi everyone,

I think is an easy question but I have a doubt about it, I hope someone can help me. I need Know what connection is using on Cisco 2811 router.

I have this interface in Cisco 2811, I need Know if this port is connected to Fiber or Copper. I think is copper with RJ45 but I see 100 base TX/FX so this make me doubt about it because TX its for copper link and FX for fiber.

FastEthernet0/0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is MV96340 Ethernet, address is 001e.7aaXX.XXXX (bia 001e.7aXX.XXXX

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 100 usec,

     reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Keepalive set (10 sec)

Full-duplex, 100Mb/s, 100BaseTX/FX

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

Last input 00:00:00, output 00:00:00, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:00:07

Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0

Queueing strategy: fifo

Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)

5 minute input rate 206000 bits/sec, 123 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 562000 bits/sec, 191 packets/sec

     1706 packets input, 882775 bytes

     Received 53 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

     0 watchdog

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

     2501 packets output, 1280376 bytes, 0 underruns

0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets

     0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

Please read again what I wrote. Fa0/0 is fixed 100Base-TX.

This is the out for show inventory raw command:

"For ports other than fa0/0 and 0/1..."

show interface fast 0/0 capabilities is not allowed.

"By the way, on switches..."; that was just an extra info.

Hi,

Please let us know whether you have this interface supoorting both SFP and RJ-45..?

If yes this may be due to dual support on this interface but at a time you can use only 1.

Thanks

How can I do it?

FastEthernet0/0 is the first fixed port on the 2811, it's 100Base-TX. For ports other than fa0/0 and 0/1, check the HW by entering the show inventory command.

By the way, on switches you can get the required information by entering the show interfaces capabilities or the show interfaces capabilities commands.

This is the out for show inventory raw command:

NAME: "2811 chassis", DESCR: "2811 chassis"

PID: CISCO2811         , VID: V05 , SN: XXXXXXX

NAME: "C2811 Chassis Slot 0", DESCR: "C2811 Chassis Slot"

PID:                   , VID:    , SN:

NAME: "c2811 Motherboard with 2FE and integrated VPN", DESCR: "c2811 Motherboard with 2FE and integrated VPN"

.

show interface fast 0/0 capabilities is not allowed.

This is the output for "show version" (Only hardware details)

Cisco 2811 (revision 53.51) with 251904K/10240K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID XXXXXXXX

2 FastEthernet interfaces

1 Serial interface

1 Channelized E1/PRI port

Please read again what I wrote. Fa0/0 is fixed 100Base-TX.
