Console session disabled on standby supe 4507

                   Hi all,

Need to confirm if this is default behaviour of 4507 with 2 supes.

When i console in to standby supe gives message console session is disabled?

Hi Mahesh,

By default, the console of the standby supervisor is disabled.

Probably you might try to do below and see if you can enable it

Switch#conf t

Switch(config)#redundancy

Switch(config-red)#main-cpu

Switch(config-r-mo)#standby console enable

If that doens't supported, then you can user virtual console i.e. by logging in to standby sup from active sup console

Switch# session module 2
Connecting to standby virtual console
Type "exit" or "quit" to end this session
Switch-standby-console# exit
Switch#

I tried to enable console for standby switch but seems it does not support it.

Main CPU redundancy configuration commands:
  auto-sync  Sync elements
  default    Set a command to its defaults
  exit       Exit from main-cpu configuration mode
  no         Negate a command or set its defaults

Also when i login by session mod 4

sw-standby-console#r?

Standby console disabled.

Valid commands are: exit, logout

There is no option to enable console on standby switch .

So we can say that standby switch console is disabled by defaut right?

Seems console on standby Supe is disabled by design on 4507 E  switches.
