When I do a 'show service <name>', there is the 'load' indicated.  I have seen this at 74 and then down to 2 - what does this value indicate?

Yep really - it's actually the load/average load for the sevice, which is not 100% in sync when using the commands

show service <>

show service summary

check out the doc for your specific ver of IOS

the number of "current" connections

also use

show service summary to get an over view.

Really....

Session Redundancy: Disabled
  Redirect Domain:
  Redirect String:
  Keepalive: (TCP-7777   5   3   5 )
  Keepalive Encryption:      Disabled
Last Clearing of Stats Counters: 09/28/2010 07:00:23
  Mtu:                       1500        State Transitions:            6
Total Local Connections:   5225        Total Backup Connections:     0
Current Local Connections: 1           Current Backup Connections:   0
Total Connections:         5225        Max Connections:              65534
  Total Reused Conns:        0
  Weight:                    1           Load:                         99
  Weight Reporting:          None

So how does 1 Local Connections translate to a load of 99?

Just trying to understand what this is telling me.

Thx

Ok....

I had looked at the documentation before and saw the

Load/Average Load

The current and average load for the service.

but I did not find a definition of 'load' or an association with connections or what the average load is and how is it calculated.  And then based on these  numbers, how should the load balanced nodes be weighted depending on the power/capabilities of each node - probably just a wag based on looking at the statistics on the CSS and the individual nodes.

Thanks for your help
