Data center switch selection

Hello, I have a need for 2 ToR switches to support a VM server platform within a single rack.

The switches needs to share a total of 18x10GbE (SFP+ or RJ-45 for the servers) ; 5x1GbE (RJ-45 for management) & 2x10GbE (SFP+ connection to Core LAN architecture) ports.

Is there an appropriate Catalyst switch that can support the above port options?

Thank you

Hi,

Since you will be using these switches for servers and VM connectivity, I recommend using the Nexus series and not the Catalyst. The Nexus is designed to be used in data centers.

Here is a couple of links for the 9k series:

Look at the CVD. and understand the DC architecture and design and opt right Cisco Model for your needs, as suggested Nexus is the right choice for DC.

Two Nexus 5K would fit the bill.
Nexus 5K will allow you to deploy, if necessary, 2K FEX extenders.
