DHCP lease time problem

hello all

   I configured my DHCP pool lease time to as the following

ip dhcp pool SUMERVO

   network 172.18.3.0 255.255.255.0

   option 150 ip 172.19.0.1

   dns-server 4.2.2.2 8.8.8.8 4.2.2.3

   default-router 172.18.3.254

   domain-name wr

   lease 300 23 59

but the users still getting a new IP address every day ???  befor i was set it to infinite but the still renew every day . please help way this happining ??? Im doing this on my 3560 SW

Hi Ahmed,

I guess only guess---- since your devices/machines are turned off at some point of time in the day, the dhcp is not able to receive any dhcp related keepalive messages from the machines which got ip address from this pool.

DHCP should need the keep alive to make sure that some machine is using the ip, if not it will take back to its account.

But, If you want to retain the ip address even when the devices are powered down, then you may map mac address to ip in the dhcp server.

Lets wait for some solution who is good in this dhcp stuff

   is there is any way that i can bind the Mac to ip automaticlly like we have in the switch scurity command sticky . i wish this can happpen in dhcp . any idea please
