DHCP Scope Options

Hi,

We are running DHCP Service on the L3 Switch and now we are configuring a new WDS server in our network in one VLAN and we want to make use of that to boot any system irrespective of VLAN's.

We configured IP helper address as the WDS Server and also configured udp forward port 4011 in the switch. Also configured DHCP Scope option 60 as PXEClient.

Now our problem is only Surface Pro devices are booting up and when we try to boot Laptop, we are getting the following error “Proxy DHCP server did not reply to request on port 4011”.

As said earlier - we have DCHP configured for all VLANs in the switch itself and configured WDS server in one of the VLAN and we try testing this from a different VLAN -- we are having this issue.

We are able to boot laptop only by setting DHCP scope option 66 and 67 but we are able to mention only one image, So wither Surface PRo / Laptop works in this case.

Need some experts suggestion.

Regards,

Gan

Hello,

according to Microsoft, you need to remove option 60,66, and 67 from the scope in this scenario:
