Diagnostic command for WS-C4507R+E

Hi,

It was reported by an onsite team member (in a different facility) that a port "went bad" on one of the modules (WS-X4748-RJ45-E) installed in their WS-C4507R+E.  I do not have much information as to what means "went bad" since I have not been able to get someone to assist with troubleshooting or more information in general.  Currently nothing is plugged into the port so I wanted to run diagnostic on that port that would not cause disruptions for the module, or even the entire switch, since it is the facility's core switch and there are many active connections to it.

The command I plan to run is diagnostic start module 5 test per-port port 37.

My question(s) are:

1.  Will this test cause disruptions to anything else that is part of the C4507 chassis?

2.  What specific tests will be run on this port?

Sorry, I don't have much information to provide but I am hoping to get more by running a diagnostic on the port.  I am just a little hesitant in running a command that could cause disruptions to other devices and/or users connected.  Learning as I go.

Hi,

When you run this command

diagnostic start module 5 test per-port port 37

You will see a message like this:

Diagnostic[module 5]: Running test(s) 5 may disrupt normal system operation and requires reload
Do you want to continue? [no]:

So, I would say, do this in a maintenance window as it may require a reload of the module or system.
